A renowned violinist who has performed on stages around the world is helping to set the stage for a better tomorrow for dogs, cats and our other friends with fur by partnering with the world’s leading organization in the struggle to end lab experiments.
Platinum-selling recording artist Vanessa-Mae has stepped into the role of global ambassador of Cruelty Free International. Established in 1898, the organization has made history in recent years through such successful campaigns as the banning of animal testing for new cosmetics in the European Union and the UK; the launch of the Leaping Bunny program, which provides peace of mind for compassionate consumers through the display of a logo which signifies that the household, cosmetic or personal care product which they are purchasing is cruelty free; and the end of the UK’s LD50 oral toxicity tests, in which animals could be force fed chemicals until half of the helpless souls experimented upon face their fate.
By accepting a position as an ambassador for Cruelty Free International, Vanessa-Mae has followed in the footsteps of other animals-loving luminaries who have shown their support for the organization’s ongoing efforts, among them comic actor Ricky Gervais, Queen guitarist Brian May, actor Oscar Nunez from the hit NBC series The Office and actor Norman Reedus, a star of the AMC series The Walking Dead.
Speaking out about speaking up for animals in need, Vanessa-Mae stated: “As the new global ambassador for Cruelty Free International, I am dedicated to using my passion to stand up for animals in laboratories. It is heart-breaking that over 100 million animals suffer and die in experiments around the world every year. But we can make the difference. Please join me in calling on the world’s leaders to have the courage to do the right thing for animals. Together, we can make the world cruelty free.”
