She’s portrayed a vampire in the blockbuster finale of the Twilight movie franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part Two, and has guest starred on such successful small screen series as Sons of Anarchy, The Fosters and Mad Men , but when the director yells “That’s a wrap!” actress Marlane Barnes steps into her real life role– acting as a foster for Fidos in need of forever homes.
Earlier this summer the star joined Marc Peralta, the executive director of Best Friends Animal Society- Los Angeles, for The Hallmark Channel talk show Home and Family to shine a spotlight on the vital role that fosters play in saving homeless dogs and cats, who are losing their lives at the rate of 9,000 each day in the U.S. shelter system.
Marlane Barnes– who recently helped Best Friends’ No Kill movement by taking part in the annual NKLA pet adoption weekend— explains what makes a person a good foster. The subject matter is close to Marlane’s heart, as she is currently helping Mr. Magoo, a blind and hearing impaired senior Cocker Spaniel from Second Chance Cocker Rescue (an all volunteer, non-profit which saves the lives of Cocker Spaniels in need across California) as he tries to land a starring role in the life of a forever pet parent.
Sharing her fostering experience with fellow animal lovers, the actress has posted an article entitled “How to Get a Rescue Dog Adopted: Mr. Magoo’s Online Profile” at ProjectNoses.org. a website which chronicles the star’s time with the companion animals she has fostered.
