Dear Alecia,
I have a 3-1/2-year-old Jack Russell. She has never been good about going to the bathroom outside. I have been putting her in her crate for a time out when she does her business in the house. Today I put her in the crate for over an hour. When I let her out, she went right back to the same spot and
pooped. She has a 4-year-old sister who has never acted this way. Help! She is very dominate over me and the other animals in the house. – Carol
Dear Carol:
It can be so frustrating when you pooch thinks your house is their toilet bowl. From what you have described to me you need to shore up on your boundaries with your little one.
When you come back inside, put her straight back in her crate. When she’s ready to go out, take her right back outside. Do this routine for about 2-3 days straight with her play time being outside, and she will learn very quickly that there is only one place to do her business, and it’s not inside your house.
