For the fourth consecutive year the third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays has announced that he will hit home runs to help dogs and cats who need forever homes.
A proud pet parent to rescue dog Tatum (a six-year-old Boerboel Mastiff) and longtime supporter of Pet Pal Animal Shelter, Evan Longoria– along with the Tampa Bay Rays, Bright House Networks and Ducky’s Sports Lounge– will each contribute $100 to the no-kill St. Petersburg, Florida facility which has been saving the lives of shelter animals since its start in the early 1980s.
Longoria’s efforts for the paws cause has already been a game changer for the resident Rovers and felines at Pet Pal Animal Shelter, which has received $28,800 over the course of the last three years thanks to the baseball player’s athletic ability.
The Tampa Bay Rays, which pitched the option of pet adoption with a 2015 fundraising calendar for Pet Pal Animal Shelter starring players and their pups, will celebrate the bond between baseball buffs and their barking buddies on April 26th, when fans and their Fidos can cheer from the stands for their favorite team during Dog Day at the Rays.
