Supermodel David Gandy Named Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Ambassador

Having posed alongside such famous faces as Naomi Campbell, Giselle, Eva Herzigova and movie star Scarlett Johansson, David Gandy may have gained fame for his striking features, but his latest role as the first ambassador for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home shows that the international supermodel has an equally beautiful heart.

His passion for compassion beginning in childhood, Gandy helped out at dog sanctuaries and veterinary clinics before stardom struck, and over the years the model has become a role model with his frequent visits to the renowned UK animal welfare charity’s London site.

“It’s a real honour to be invited to be Battersea’s first ambassador.” the supermodel stated. “The work they do to find homes for thousands of dogs and cats every year is amazing and I hope to help make a real difference. What makes Battersea so special is it cares for every type of dog and tries to help them get a second chance in a loving new home.”

“From visiting the Home, I’ve found that these dogs, many of them Staffordshire Bull Terriers, are desperate to get close to you for some love and attention. The affection they show you is astounding. I hope my involvement will help explain that and make people think of choosing a rescue dog or cat from Battersea for their next pet.”

The longest-running animal rescue center in the UK, approximately 6,000 dogs and 3,000 cats received comfort and care at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s sites in London, Berkshire and Kent in 2011.
