Stars to Help Pets in Need at Dog Pageant

Rusty-Nail Hundreds of Spots tried out for a coveted spot in the second annual Rusty Nail Doggie Pageant, and on September 13th the four-legged finalists will step up to help animals in need by stepping in front of a panel of celebrity judges who will determine which of the 10 tail-wagging contestants will get their paws on the title of The Official Rusty Nail Dog Mascot 2015.

Presented by the Beach Shack Hotel, the event will take place at The Rusty Nail in Cape May, New Jersey, with celebrity dog stylist Jorge Bendersky not only acting as host of the fun fundraiser, but also a pageant judge. The author of DIY Grooming: From Puppy Cuts to Best in Show/star of Animal Planet’s Groomer Has It will also pamper the pups of attending pet parents with glitter ‘tattoos’ and paw-dicures for a $25 donation to the non-profit organization benefiting from the event, Animal Outreach of Cape May County.Cropped2

Hoping to be deemed the day’s top dog, competing canines will impress the judges as they display costume compatibility with their human companion on the catwalk; take treats for tricks; unleash their inner pup in a Rover-themed rendition of musical chairs, and slurp up non-alcoholic suds in the doggy beer chugging contest.

Celebrity Spotting

Stars scheduled to score the Spots include Countess LuAnn De Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City fame and Jorge Bendersky, who will be joined by Philadelphia Style Magazine’s Editor in Chief Kristin Detterline, and 2013’s doggie pageant winner Lexi’s pet parents, Katie Kane and Aaron Baker.cropped3

The Fido who wins first place will receive the coveted title of Official Rusty Nail Dog Mascot 2015, have their photo on the official Rusty Nail Doggie Ale (non-alcoholic ‘beer’ for dogs), and a $250 Beach Shack/Rusty Nail gift certificate for their two-legged companion.cropped4

A pageant for a higher purpose, the event benefits Animal Outreach of Cape May County, a non-profit organization which saves the lives of companion animals who are facing their fate in kill shelters in the South Jersey area, and educated the public about proper pet guardianship.

Entry: Open to the public, with a suggested donation of $25 for Animal Outreach of Cape May County.
