Does your dog need an extra supportive dog bed? We have been searching for a dog bed for senior Tiki–and just had the opportunity to review the Brentwood Home Pet Bed.
Brentwood Home provided us with a review bed; as always, we only share products that we believe you’ll enjoy and ones that we use in our own home. All statements and opinions are entirely our own.
About a year ago, we began to notice a limp in Tiki’s step, especially when she jumped off her favorite chair. It wasn’t bad, and we’ve been able to control it with chondroitin and glucosamine supplements every day, but it is a sign of the arthritis that she now has in her front legs.
Her past two vet exams have confirmed a clicking in her front legs, a sign of the arthritis we now work to manage by keeping her weight down (an effort that’s still underway), proper exercise, supplements–and supporting her joints when she rests.
Unboxing Our Dog Bed
We were especially interested in reviewing the Brentwood Home Runyon dog bed with her since it is an orthopedic bed, a memory foam bed designed to offer pressure relief for a pet’s joints.
The bed arrived rolled and compressed:
We unrolled the bed (with Tiki’s help!) to see the bed (this is an XL size) with it’s U-shaped bolster which gives a pet a snuggly and comforting place to snuggle and a headrest, if they choose.
The cover features two zippers to make it easy to remove.
The cover is washable on gentle in cold water (tumble dry on low or air dry in a warm, sunny spot), and Brentwood Home sells replacement covers, too).
The cover includes a wipeable, nontoxic waterproof lining to protect it from stains and smells.
Irie was first up on the bed as soon as we unrolled it on our porch for some photos before it came in to make its home beside our bed.
The mattress is firm and substantial, very much like a human mattress in a pet size. And, just like the human mattresses that Brentwood Home also makes, this bed (which is made in California) is made with CertiPUR-US foam, with NO chemical flame retardants, heavy metals, or phthalates.
The Brentwood Home pet bed comes with a three-year warranty but, with its substantial construction, I think it’s a bed that you and your pets can enjoy for many more years! Its stylish tweed goes with just about any decor, so we’re definitely ready for the holidays and holiday company this year.
A big paws up for the Brentwood Home Memory Foam Orthopedic Pet Bed!
Other Brentwood Home Pet Products:
If your dog doesn’t like a bolster bed, Brentwood Home also offers the Griffith Pet Bed and replacement covers. Also an orthopedic bed, the rectangular bed is like the Runyon bed but without the bolster.
