Rescue the Runway Helps Adoptable Dogs

Proving that trends may come and go but compassion will never go out of fashion, dogs in need of forever homes will take command of the catwalk in brightly-colored bandanas or just their birthday suit at an event that is custom-made to promote the option of pet adoption.

Celebrating its fifth year, Rescue the Runway: New York City is presented by Mr. Bones & Co., an all-volunteer based non-profit named in honor of a Pit Bull who was saved on the very day he was facing his fate in an animal shelter. Although his new lease on life included its share of struggles, Mr. Bones’ determination to enjoy every day has been the inspiration behind the organization’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs who have a hard time finding a pet parent due to unfair prejudice of their breed, medical needs or behavioral difficulties. The organization also extends aid to other shelters and rescue groups through fundraising efforts and spay/neuter events, and by a distribution of grants.

Celebrity Emcee

An actress, comic and co-creator of the CBS series Two Broke Girls, Whitney Cummings is also a proud pet parent to two rescue dogs. She has used her star wattage to shine a spotlight on ARME’s Beagle Freedom Project and Best Friends Animal Society’s “I Saved my Best Friend” campaign. The A-list animal advocate will act as host of the event, introducing adorable adoptables from five animal rescue organizations to a canine-loving crowd.

Rescue the Runway Activities

  • The main runway presentation of adoptable dogs!
  • Pucker up and get smooched by a pooch at the fundraising Pit Bull Kissing Booth!
  • An accolade given to a community hero, this year’s “Boney” Award will be presented to Bethany Watson, co-host of the nationally syndicated radio program Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
  • A silent auction and raffles will also help to raise funds for the paws cause.
