Remembering Tiki, 2008-2022

Today’s post is one of the hardest we’ve ever written: we have lost our sweet Tiki. A few weeks ago she was diagnosed with lymphoma and was undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread, and she went downhill very quickly on Thanksgiving. On Monday, we had to say goodbye.

Tiki’s adoption was the start of DogTipper and through the years she taught us so much.

Although she had been found abandoned overnight at the shelter gates, Tiki always looked for the best in every person.

She never met a stranger and loved seeing her friends, meeting new people and visiting the nursing home residents when we called on our relatives.

Tiki’s outgoing nature also helped our shy Irie blossom…and four years ago when we lost Irie, Tiki’s fun-loving personality helped teach our shy Barli that the world is a fun place to explore.

We are going to unplug for a few days and help Barli, who until last night had never spent a night in our home without his Tiki. And, for ourselves, we’re going to take some time to catch our breath as we move forward and remember the girl who not only helped us change careers but changed our lives.
