What It Is: chews made from all-natural, grass-fed beef hide

Manufacturer: PetAg

DogTipper Review: Our dogs love rawhides…but we’re not able to give them to them because they just don’t know when to stop. They rip strips off even the largest chews and try to swallow them, producing gagging for them (and new gray hairs for us). So we’re on a no-rawhide policy here because of the risk of choking or intestinal blockage from the big pieces they insist on ingesting.

But we know that many dog lovers have dogs that can chew rawhide chews without gorging on them so we wanted to review the Rawhide Brand All-Natural Beef Hides, produced by PetAg. These chews come in a variety of shapes, from knots to braids to slim sticks, in five sizes, from mini (for dogs 15 pounds and under) to X-Large (for dogs over 85 pounds). All of the chews are made from rawhide produced from antibiotic-free and hormone-free, grass-fed Brazilian beef. The chews are chemical and preservative free and use A-plus grade hides. Although a product of Brazil, chews are lab tested in the US and lot coded for traceability.

Another attractive feature is that these are no-mess chews. Many chews are basted with flavor which can leave a mess in the house (not to mention attract both bacteria and bugs). These rawhides are very clean to the touch; they’re marinated with a special process so the flavor is embedded and not on the exterior of the chew.

The knotted chews are a specially-patented Safety-Knot™ Chew to help prevent your dog from popping off the knotted end of the chew.

Along with the natural aspects of the chew itself, these chews are packaged in environmentally-friendly packaging, from the label to the bag’s netting.

If you give your dog rawhides, be sure to check out these natural (and neat!) chews!
