Combining comedy with compassion, Aubrey Plaza of Parks and Recreation fame has teamed up with her former co-star Amy Poehler to help dogs and cats who want nothing more than to bring joy and laughter to the lives of loving forever families.
A star who cast a rescued dog in the real life role of her canine companion in 2013, Plaza is the latest animal-loving luminary to lend her voice to an adorable adoptable for the new web series Heavy Petting, which can be found on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls website. In a funny Fido-fied take on dating apps, the star voices two-year-old Terrier mix Madison’s requirements for her future pet parent– the quick-witted canine requests that only chill people who are real bookhounds need apply.
By speaking for a shelter pet, Aubrey Plaza has followed in the footsteps of comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney, whose video for Bart, a 10-month-old mixed breed dog who wants to be someone’s barking buddy, premiered in mid-October. Upcoming videos will include the vocalizations of Plaza’s fellow former Parks and Recreations co-stars Nick Offerman and Aziz Ansari, The Mindy Project‘s Ike Barinholtz, Paul Scheer from The League and Fresh Off the Boat, and more.
Heavy Petting was created through a partnership between the Smart Girls website (which was co-founded by Amy Poehler), the ASPCA and animal shelters throughout the country. The web series will shine a spotlight on the option of pet adoption as well as promote volunteering and fostering.
Madison is v. chill + v. smart, just like the voice in her head (@evilhag) #SmartGirlsAdopt https://t.co/Wkd120UE9P pic.twitter.com/LglEpVC2oC
