For the past few weeks, we’ve been using Glamping with Pets to plan a pet-friendly glamping getaway with Irie and Tiki. We knew we’d be traveling during the Supermoon, a date when the moon was closer than it has been to the Earth since 1948. As luck would have it, we couldn’t have found a better destination for our getaway than a pet-friendly cabin near Fredericksburg, Texas named, appropriately enough, Moonrise Retreat.
On our trip last week, conditions were perfect for watching the moon rise over the the Texas Hill Country; as you can see by the above photo that we shot from the upstairs balcony, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
Glamping–or “glamorous camping”–combines the ease and luxury of a B&B stay with the natural surroundings of a camping trip. Glamping with Pets showcases properties that are pet-friendly, like the beautiful three-bedroom, three-bathroom accommodation that welcomed Irie and Tiki:
Located just minutes outside of Fredericksburg, the home was surrounded by cattle ranches–and quiet. Although Irie and Tiki are definitely country girls, we don’t live in cattle country–so Tiki was a little bit unsure about these new, large neighbors:
She quickly adjusted and, along with Irie, made new friends:
As much as they loved the surrounding pastures and their new friends, I think Irie and Tiki were equally enthralled by the home. I’m always surprised how curious they are in new accommodations, ready to check out the couches…
…and bedrooms…
…and baths…
Soon sunset was approaching and it was time for their evening dog walk, which we took on the dead end road that winds past Moonrise Retreat.
With a full kitchen at the property, we prepared dinner and enjoyed it out on the patio, listening to the sounds of the nearby cattle…
Evening soon became night and, with it, came the Supermoon for which we had been waiting–and the sight did not disappoint. With nothing between us and the horizon but a few cattle, the sight of the rising moon was simply spectacular.
The next morning, we prepared a breakfast of farm fresh eggs, supplied by the resident owner from her flock of chickens.
As with our other meals, we dined on the outdoor patio, listening to the sounds of nature and, during our breakfast, enjoying a morning dance of butterflies on the adjacent butterfly bush:
We all had a wonderful time on our glamping getaway, enjoying an outdoor adventure with the ease of a B&B stay, and all in pet-friendly comfort! A big paws up to Glamping with Pets for their listings of unique properties in nature for pet lovers!
