This past week we had a super fun getaway to Port Aransas, Texas, about four hours from our home. Planned as an anniversary trip last week, we had to reschedule due to the heavy rains. We lucked out on the weather, though, and, although we had some clouds, we didn’t encounter a drop of rain this trip. (And, more importantly for thunderphobic Irie, we didn’t have any storms!)
This was our sixth time to stay at A Laughing Horse Lodge, a dog-friendly location just a few blocks from the beach. Irie and Tiki knew where we were as soon as we drove in!
The entire facility is very dog-friendly, from the guest rooms to the self-serve dog bath!
We stayed for three nights, and our stay was very relaxed. We started each day with a take-out breakfast at Whataburger, taking it to the park to watch the wild dolphins in the ship channel. During the day, we hit the beach where they were preparing for this weekend’s Texas Sandfest, one of the nation’s largest sand sculpting competitions:
In the evenings, we explored the island’s many dog-friendly patio restaurants!
We all had so much fun on our vacation…the only problem was that the three days went by too quickly!
