Seventy-three percent of pet adoptions start with an online search, so a good photo is crucial to helping a homeless dog or cat catch the attention of a possible pet parent. On August 3rd a famous pet photographer, a celebrity pet groomer and the king of cat comportment will teach the pet-loving public tips to making a shelter pet look ‘picture perfect’ as the One Picture Saves a Life and Cats R Cool tour stops at the Port Washington campus of the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, North Shore Animal League America.
The life-saving workshop will be conducted by Seth Casteel, who captured the cuteness of diving canines in the New York Times bestselling book “Underwater Dogs;” Jorge Bendersky– who starred in the Animal Planet program Groomer Has It— and Jackson Galaxy from My Cat from Hell.
The day of dogged devotion will begin with a morning session featuring a discussion by all three acclaimed speakers, followed by separate, in-depth afternoon sessions, with Seth Casteel focusing on camera techniques to increase a homeless animal’s chances of adoption, while groomer Jorge Bendersky will explain ways to tame unruly manes and Animal Planet personality Jackson Galaxy will offer a tutorial about TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) and working with community cats. While the afternoon sessions are aimed at helping shelter and rescue staff, they will also be beneficial for anyone with an interest in volunteering.
Admission: Free (Register at the One Picture Saves a Life website)
When: August 3, 2014 (morning session lasts from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; afternoon session runs from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
