NHL player Riley Sheahan has been offering an asset to dogs and cats in need since late 2014 when he teamed up with the Michigan Humane Society to launch Riley’s Rescues. Not only is the celebrated center for the Detroit Red Wings making a $100 donation to the paws cause for each goal and assist he scores during the 2014/2015 season, he is also shining a spotlight on an adorable adoptable each month to help the pet score their ultimate goal– a forever home.
The sports star recently paid a visit to the Michigan Humane Society’s Detroit Center for Animal Care to meet February’s Spot in the spotlight, Andre. A seven-month-old Pit Bull, one of Andre’s front legs had to be amputated due to a birth defect, but that won’t stop him from racing right into the heart of a loving pet parent.
To thank the dog’s future forever family for choosing the option of pet adoption, the person who welcomes Andre into their life will receive a Red Wings goody bag, which includes a photo signed by Sheahan.
The oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the Great Lakes state, the Michigan Humane Society has helped animals in need since 1877.
