Always willing to offer an assist to a dog in need, Bryan Bickell of the Chicago Blackhawks recently helped to save the life of a dog who is now hoping to score a forever home.
Stepping off of the ice and in front of a camera, the NHL star and his wife Amanda made an on air appeal to rescue groups to help Buddy, a Pit Bull who was found on the streets in Chicago’s South Side and taken to a local shelter. Thanks to the Pit Bull-loving pair’s appearance on WGN Morning News, Buddy was saved by the all-volunteer non-profit New Leash on Life Chicago.
The proud pet parents of a Pittie named Bailey, Bryan and Amanda Bickell are the co-founders of Chicago Loves Pits, a non-profit organization which promotes a positive image of canines who are often dogged by prejudice. Chicago loves Pits will sponsor Buddy’s care, including microchipping and neutering. For more about Buddy, his story appears in the website’s Bick’s Pits section.
