As a Left Wing for the Chicago Blackhawks he helped his team win the coveted Stanley Cup in 2013, and as a champion for the underdog NHL star Bryan Bickell helps canines obtain their goal of finding forever homes. A co-founder of The Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation, each month the athlete shines a spotlight on a Pit Bull-type dog who needs a pet parent, and Monroe is November’s “Bick’s Pit.”
Only 14 weeks old, Monroe is a female American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff who was rescued by The Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation from being sold on Facebook. Now in the care of The Dog District, the cuddly canine is currently waiting for the day when she will become a member of a family’s home team.
While many Pitties have been adopted thanks to Bick’s Pits, a few of the dogs who enjoyed lapping up the limelight thanks to the monthly campaign are still looking for loving guardians, including Smokey, a 1-year-old presently residing at Animal Care League in Oak Park, Illinois; Brita, one pup in a litter of 10 who was pulled from an animal control facility by Alive Rescue; Precious, a 2-year-old pocket Pit at Rescue a Pittie who was believed to have once been used for breeding and perhaps as a bait dog; and Kiki, a paralyzed Pit Bull who was pulled from Chicago Animal Care and Control by Recycled Pits.
For more information about any of the dogs up for adoption, as well as about The Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation– a non-profit which helps dogs who have been hounded by people’s unjust prejudice and works to end the abuse of children with help from certified Pit Bull-type therapy dogs who have healed from neglect, abandonment or abuse:
