Review: New Puppy Bundle from RPG Innovations

bundle

There’s no denying that the first few weeks with a new puppy–or any new dog in your home–are a time of great fun. As you and your new best friend get to know each other, it’s exciting to watch the relationship unfold as you introduce your new four-legged family member to his new home and surroundings.

But that time of transition is also a time when accidents occur, from potty accidents to “I thought I picked up everything he could chew” incidents. It’s a time when you very well might find yourself reaching for cleaning supplies and more.

(And, if you’re planning to adopt an older dog and decide you’re not in the market for puppy supplies, think again. Even a housetrained dog can have accidents in his new home due to the numerous changes in his life.)

We recently had the chance to test out the New Puppy Bundle from RPG Innovations. This is one of many special bundles sold through Simple Solution, Vet’s Best, Bags on Board and OUT! Pet Care through January 15. All the bundles (ranging from travel to cold weather to cat bundles) represent a 50% savings off regular retail prices!

The New Puppy Bundles features products that you need to care for your new puppy (or, as we mentioned, any age of dog who’s new to your home). The bundle includes:

  • OUT! Clean Cotton Body Mist – 6.3 oz
  • Oatmeal Spray Shampoo – 9.2 oz
  • Simple Solution Stain & Odor Remover 32 oz
  • GREEN-PUPS™ Waste Pick-up Refill Bags (120 bags) – NEW!
  • Fashion Dispenser Green Chevron Print (14 bags)
  • NO CHEW Deterrent – Spray Bottle 32 fl. oz./945 ml.
  • Original Training Pads – 10 Pad Pack (23″ x 24″)
  • Training Pad Holder (Fits pads 21″x21″ or larger)
  • Anti-Flea Easy Spray Shampoo (16 oz)
  • One Handed Poop Scoop – 1 Scoop
  • Pee Post® Pheromone-Treated Yard Stake

We immediately put the NO CHEW Deterrent to the test on our Christmas tree. While our dogs Irie and Tiki are very good about not chewing on the tree, our cats Inca and Lucky want to chow down on the branches when we’re not looking. This deterrent smells good to humans (who wants a Christmas tree that smells bad?)–but tastes bitter to pets to deter that chewing–and potentially save pets from a shock or intestinal obstruction.

Next up: OUT! Clean Cotton Body Mist. This week, I’m headed to Dallas for an in-store pet product demonstration so we’ll be spending the night in a dog-friendly hotel. Irie and Tiki are clean–but, I’ll be honest, Irie smells a bit, well, doggy. Her hound heritage and slightly oily fur get a pet scent before she’s actually dirty. It’s 50ish degrees right now so I don’t really want to bathe her here and I don’t have time to visit a self-serve dog wash. (She doesn’t like professional grooming so dog baths are definitely a DIY task here.)

I tried out the OUT! Clean Cotton Body Mist, giving her a spritz to freshen her coat. This made in the USA product contains no alcohol or dyes and left just a clean, light smell, nothing to bother Irie’s sensitive nose. I really loved the body mist and think it’s a great product for new adopters, regardless of the dog’s age. It’s often best to give your new dog time to settle in before giving him a bath. When it is time for a bath, the bundle includes Oatmeal Spray Shampoo and Anti-Flea Easy Spray Shampoo as well. The flea shampoo is the first natural shampoo that safely kills both live fleas and flea eggs on contact; it uses peppermint oil and clove extract so that you can safely shampoo puppies age 12 weeks and older.

Of course, a new dog means that potty accidents will occur. Puppies will need time for housetraining (and for their bladders to grow); adult dogs, even when adopting a dog who has previously been housetrained, may be confused about just where the potty is located. The New Puppy Bundle includes some great products for cleaning up those messes, important not only so your home smells fresh to you but to totally remove the scent of urine so your dog doesn’t return to the site of his accident.

Simple Solution Stain & Odor Remover removes the stain that you can see and the smells that you can smell but, more importantly, breaks down organic residue and permanently eliminates stains and odors from carpets, upholstery or any other water-safe surface. You don’t want your dog sniffing out that old stain!

The New Puppy Bundle also includes the Training Pad Holder and puppy pads. This hard plastic holder grips the pads to keep them from tearing. This is a handy tool for new puppy parents but also an inexpensive option for those looking for an indoor potty, whether that’s for while you’re at work (especially important for senior dogs) or at night, when you might not want to face the icy winter weather for a midnight potty run.

I also love the Simple Solution Pee Post, a scented post that, just like the name suggests, shows dogs that THIS spot is the bathroom! Not only is this excellent for using with new puppies, it’s also a great tool if you’ll be moving to a new home and need to help your dog identify his new bathroom facilities.

Finally, the New Puppy Bundle includes a waste bag dispenser and GREEN PUPS waste bags, made using lignin, a organic polymer that binds plants and wood (it’s the substance that makes newsprint turn yellow with age).
