Miranda Lambert, who will embark on her Keeper of the Flame concert tour this summer, has helped devotees of dogs and friends of felines keep the faith by awarding grants to 50 shelters in 50 states.
Homeless dogs and cats in facilities from coast to coast are one step closer to receiving the priceless gift of a better future thanks to a generous donation from Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation. In January 2016 each shelter accepted into the 2015 Mutts Across America: 50 Shelters/50 States program received a minimum donation of $3,000 from the non-profit organization, which distributed a total of $175,000.
Speaking about the initiative, Lambert stated: “When an animal finds a forever home, it’s not just life-changing for the animal, but for the family that gets to receive the unconditional love that animals give. It means so much to me to be a part of that process.”
When choosing the shelters that would benefit from the third year of grant-giving, the MuttNation Foundation board took into consideration such criteria as:
- Does the shelter have a high adoption per intake rate?
- Do members of the community volunteer at the shelter?
- Is the shelter fiscally responsible?
- Does the shelter advocate spay/neuter programs?
- Is the shelter embraced by its community?
Among the facilities to receive a contribution this year was The Bella Vista Animal Shelter: “As the recipient for the state of Arkansas we are deeply humbled and enormously grateful for your support Our ‘cold noses and warm hearts’ give the MuttNation Foundation their sincere thanks.” Animal Rescue Rhode Island also expressed their gratitude for MuttNation Foundation’s “exemplary work in the fight to end animals’ suffering and accelerate shelter pet adoptions.”
