Martha Stewart Honored by American Humane Association

Exemplifying their mission to create a compassionate world for children and animals, Martha Stewart was awarded the National Humanitarian Medal by The American Humane Association on March 9, 2011. More than 500 philanthropists gathered at The Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida for the swank soiree, which included speeches by the decorating doyenne and couture designer Tinsely Mortimer.

Dog devotee Tinsley Mortimer, a New York notable known for reality TV stint on High Society and her line of luxury handbags, was recognized at the luncheon for her new role as National Ambassador for the American Humane Association. The star socialite had previously worked with the organization for its Adopt-A-Dog-Month’s Second Chance Fund benefit.

During the event, CESAR® Canine Cuisine– which has launched a “Hero Dogs” initiative to honor the dedication of therapy dogs– announced their partnership with the American Humane Society. In celebration of their combined commitment to ensure that the lives of those in need are enriched by therapy dog companions, CESAR® Canine Cuisine presented the American Humane Association with a check for $100,000 to kick start the program.
