Mardi Paws Parade Helps People, Dogs in Need

Helping to put dogs, cats and children in need on the road to a more promising tomorrow , reveling Rovers will let the good times roll for the sake of good causes at the 21st annual Mardi Paws parade.

Hundreds of ‘party animals’ are expected to take part in the post-Fat Tuesday festivities, which will include a canine costume contest complete with a coveted ‘poop’ trophy for the pup whose attire best interprets this year’s “road trip” theme.

Celebrity Spotting

She’s an actress, a country crooner and the sister of pop royalty, and on February 22nd Jamie Lynn Spears will take on the role of Celebrity Monarch as she helps to lead a pack of costume-clad canines through the streets of Mandeville, Louisiana in the Krewe of Mardi Paws parade. According to Nola.com, the animal-loving Louisiana native will be accompanied by her canine companion, a chocolate Lab named Nice.

Promenading for a higher purpose, Mardi Paws 2015 will raise funds for Children’s Hospital New Orleans; Miracle League Northshore, which enriches the lives of little ones with disabilities through the joy of team sports; Scott’s Wish, which helps those suffering from leukemia and other illnesses; and the St. Tammany Spay and Neuter Program, which provides low-cost spay/neuter services for rescues swell as the companion animals of pet parents who are dealing with financial distress.

When: February 22, 2015, starting at 2 p.m.

Where: The parade route begins on Lakeshore Drive in Mandeville, Louisiana
