Protecting the innocent both onscreen and off, actress Maggie Q– who currently stars as Lieutenant Detective Beth Davis in the CBS drama series Stalker— recently stepped into her role as a Best Friends Animal Society Acclaimed Ambassador to help defend the lives of shelter pets.

Doggedly devoted to paws causes, the former Nikita star has helped to promote the option of pet adoption over the years by using her star wattage to shine a spotlight on Best Friends’ Pet Super Adoptions and NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) Adoption Weekend, and she stood up for dogs who are hounded by people’s prejudice by supporting the bill which repealed BLS (breed specific legislation) in Ohio. A proud pet parent, Maggie Q has now joined a growing list of animal-loving luminaries who have posed with their rescued Rovers or cat companions for Best Friends Animal Society’s Save Them All campaign. Other high-profile pals to those with paws who have smiled for the camera in support of the call for action include Mamma Mia! and Les Miserables cast member Amanda Seyfried, Nils Lofgren of The E Street Band, Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba, game show host Todd Newton and Indy Car Series driver Josef Newgarden.

Speaking about her passion for compassion, Q stated: “I think my deep love for animals came into the world with me. I got lucky. It was never a decision to love or respect them, it just was. Dignity in one’s life, no matter what species, is created when we can give one another the worth that is owed. I rescue because there is no better way to show that. And no better way to live.”

Striving to stop the euthanization of 9,000 dogs and cats each day in shelters across the country, since its start in 1984 Best Friends Animal Society has made great strides in reducing the number of companion animals who lose their lives in the U.S. shelter system each year from 17 million to 4 million.
