Kyle McClellan Takes #SRDogTreatChallenge

McClellanA Major League Baseball player has stepped up to the plate to help canines in crisis by stepping in front of the camera to eat a dog treat.

Nominated by St. Louis Blues captain David Backes, Kyle McClellan is one of the doggedly devoted sports stars who has taken the #SRDogTreatChallenge, which was recently launched by Stray Rescue of St. Louis founder Randy Grimm to benefit the organization’s Sidney Strum Animal Abuse Fund.

The proud pet parent of a Golden Retriever named Cammie, the 2011 World Series champ– who shared both the spotlight and a snack with his barking buddy for the challenge– is one of the many celebrity ambassadors for Athletes for Animals, a foundation established in late 2013 by two-time Olympian David Backes (who helped to save dogs in danger during the 2014 winter games in Sochi) as a way to promote the option of pet adoption, educate the public about responsible pet guardianship and provide financial aid to rescue organizations.

To take part in the Dog Treat Challenge, either chow down on a dog treat, posting footage of the off-beat epicurean experience via social media using the hashtag #SRDogTreatChallenge, then make a $10 donation to Stray Rescue of St. Louis’s Sidney Strum Animal Abuse Fund, or pass on the chance to dine on a dog treat and contribute $100 to the paws cause.
