As our regular readers know, both Irie and Tiki have been wearing Kurgo harnesses for years. Our trusty harnesses have put in many miles with us.
Just this week, we stepped up to an upgraded car safety dog harness: the Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart Harness. Like our previous harnesses, these are designed to be comfortable, with a padded chest and an overhead design that makes it super easy to slip on your dog.
But this harness features steel nested buckles, adding to the safety features of this versatile harness.
Created with seat belt webbing, the harness is extremely strong and durable, so we’re looking forward to putting in a lot of miles on these harnesses as well. We’ve been taking them on day trips as we work on a book revision, and we just returned from a multi-day trip at the beach.
The harness also features a D-ring on the back which attaches with a caribiner to your car’s seatbelt system.
If your dog needs a little more room, the harness also includes a detachable 10-inch seatbelt loop. You can pass the seatbelt through the loop then buckle it; just unbuckle the seatbelt upon arrival. That seatbelt loop also makes a great city lead, a short leash for you to help maneuver your dog in and out of the car.
When it’s time to get out of the car, you can attach your usual leash to that back D-ring…
…or you’ll also find a chest plate D-ring on the harness as well. (Note: never use the chest plate D-ring for the seat belt attachment, only for walking.) The chest D-ring is a great option for dogs that get excited on a trip and begin to pull; their pulling will only serve to turn them away from their destination, a quick way to learn that pulling puts an end to the fun.
The Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart Harness comes in five sizes. Irie wears an extra-large (she has a large chest), and Tiki wears a large. The harnesses are machine washable (and we have put our old harnesses to the washing machine test MANY times.)
Check out the Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart Harness to help keep your dog safe on the road this summer!
