John Barrowman Promotes Hearing Dog Awards

Actor John Barrowman, a star of such sci-fi series as Torchwood, Doctor Who and Arrow, stepped into his real life role as an ambassador for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People recently when he stepped in front of the camera to promote the launch of the organization’s 2013 Hearing Dog Awards.

The high-profile pal to pups took the opportunity to talk about the awards– which is now accepting nominations– during a garden party held at the charity’s Buckinghamshire Headquarters at The Grange to honor the organization’s 1,400 volunteers.

Far from the only famous face to show their appreciation for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s ongoing efforts, Barrowman was joined at the event by fellow celebrity ambassadors Pam St Clement (former star of EastEnders), Tim Vincent (former Blue Peter presenter), British TV icon Esther Rantzen and the the charity’s Royal Patron, HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal.

While John Barrowman hosted the 2012 Hearing Dogs Awards, Tim Vincent of Blue Peter  fame will help to shine a spotlight on service dogs at the 2013 event, which will take place on October 10th at Regent’s College in London. The deadline for nominations in the categories of the Royal Canin Life-changing Partnership of the Year, the Specsavers Heroic Partnership of the Year and the Desmond Wilcox Volunteer of the Year is July 31st.
