Joan Rivers, who dishes about the latest celebrity styles each week as the host of the hit E! series Fashion Police, has used her star wattage to shine a spotlight on a program that proves that trends may come and go, but compassion will always be in fashion.
The canine-loving comedienne recently paid a visit to The Lucy Pet Foundation’s clinic van, where no cost spay/neuter surgeries are performed and, in the vehicle’s mobile adoption area, dogs and cats from local animal shelters can find their forever families.
Named in honor of a homeless and pregnant Chihuahua mix who moved into the heart and home of founder Joey Herrick, The Lucy Pet Foundation hopes to put at least 40 spay/neuter and adoption mobile clinics in motion across the country in the future to to help curb the staggering statistic of four million companion animals who lose their lives each year in U.S. shelters.
