Soon to be seen on the small screen in the upcoming CBS comedy series Angel from Hell, actress Jane Lynch– a real life guardian angel to homeless dogs– has just been cast as an Honorary Patron of k9 connection, an organization which is heaven sent for both people and pets in need.
Celebrating a decade of dogged devotion to the creation of a better tomorrow for children and our tail-wagging chums, k9 connection is a project of Ocean Park Community Center. The center pairs at-risk adolescents in the Los Angeles area with shelter dogs to help develop a sense of self-determination and empathy in teens as their new four-pawed pals learn the skills that will help to give them a new lease on life with a forever pet parent.
Speaking about her new role, Jane Lynch stated: “The folks at k9 sent me their promotional film about the great work of this organization, with both at risk teens and shelter dogs; they had me at the halfway mark in the film and I was crying at the end. This brings together two things I truly love, young people and dogs. I am so excited to become involved.”
By booming an honorary patron, the former Glee star is following in the footsteps of a rock icon who has helped to put the efforts of k9 connection center stage over the years– the organization’s founding patron, Roger Daltry. The Who frontman said: “I was drawn to this project when Pat and Katherine (founders Katherine Beattie and Pat Sinclair) started it ten years ago because of its mission of care and commitment to young people. Pete (Townshend) and I have always sought to support teenagers, not least because they supported us and our music! I am delighted that Jane is joining me as a Patron and look forward to helping this amazing group at k9 connection fulfill another teen years of service.”
