Helping homeless animals picture a brighter tomorrow, shock jock Howard Stern has once again stepped away from the microphone to get behind the camera for North Shore Animal League America’s 2014 Mutt-i-grees calendar.
Striking poses for a paws cause alongside North Shore Animal League America spokesperson Beth Stern, an array of adoptable adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens– including cover canine Leo, two dogs who are puppy mill rescues and kittens who were fostered by the compassionate high-profile couple– ‘watched the birdie’ as the America’s Got Talent judge’s camera clicked.
As an added bonus for Howard and Beth Stern’s fans, the first 1,000 calendars sold will be signed by the two animal-loving luminaries. (Limit one autographed calendar per customer.)
All of the proceeds from calendar purchases will benefit Bianca’s Furry Friends, a proposed 14,000 square-foot, cage free Feline Adoption and Wellness Center located on the second floor of North Shore’s adoption headquarters. Named in loving memory of the Stern’s late Bulldog, who crossed Rainbow Bridge in 2012, the center would help up to 200 cats and kittens and would include exam rooms, cat behavior department, grooming facilities, 24-hour care nursery, kitten adoption facility and respiratory ward, surgical suite and recovery room. (To raise further funds for the campaign project, a North Shore Animal League America Celebrity Gala will be held at the Waldorf Astoria New York on November 22nd.)
Stressing that the center would also be beneficial to our barking buddies, Beth Stern– the host of Nat Geo Wild’s Spoiled Rotten Pets— stated: “And we’ll be able to rescue more dogs, too, since the area downstairs where cats now stay will be available to expand our very successful canine adoption program.”
