A stand-up guy in every sense of the word, British comedian David Spikey– known for tickling funny bones on stage and on TV in the hit series Phoenix Nights— touched hearts at the fourth annual Burgess/Wetnose Animal Rescue Awards as he joined former model/singer Jilly Johnson in presenting the Best Welfare Success Award to Greyhounds in Need.
Founded by Anne and Arthur Finch, the charity has helped efforts to rescue and rehome approximately 6,000 galgos— dogs who are often used for hunting in Spain and discarded after one season– and found forever homes for former racing greyhounds in the UK.
