The Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin Adopts Rescue Dog

JaneWiedlinJane Wiedlin has fallen “Head Over Heels” for Paul Stanley– a two-year-old miniature Border Collie mix who has just landed a permanent gig in the heart and home of The Go-Go’s rhythm guitarist.

The pop culture icon met the canine with the KISS-themed moniker thanks to Rocket Dog Rescue, a San Francisco non-profit organization which– since its founding in 2001– has saved the lives of more than 6,000 dogs who were facing their fate in over-crowded shelters in the greater Bay Area.

Jane Wiedlin is the second member of The Go-Go’s in recent weeks to welcome a furry friend into their family. In September Belinda Carlisle introduced fans on Twitter to her new four-pawed pal– a seven-year-old, one-eyed Pug with sight impairment.

A supporter of paws causes who wears her heart on her sleeve, Jane Wiedlin is currently selling items from her wardrobe to raise funds for dogs in need. From a black satin dress worn to an animal rights event to a T-shirt that promotes a 2010 Go-Go’s tour which never took place, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the selected items shown in the From Jane’s Closet section of the musician’s website will benefit the organization that cared for her new barking buddy, Rocket Dog Rescue.

Platinum-selling band members with hearts of gold, all of The Go-Go’s have also recently banded together to help K9s for Warriors, a Florida-based non-profit which offers shelter dogs a new lease on life as service canines for veterans who are struggling with PTSD or traumatic brain injury. Fans can currently make a contribution to their Crowdrise campaign, with two donors who contribute the most to the cause and two donors chosen at random winning Go-Go’s gifts.
