Do you need a quick gift for one of your favorite dog lovers? A treat in a jar gift is a quick and inexpensive gift to give a neighbor, dog walker, or new pet parent.
Here’s what you need:
- A clean quart jar with a lid. I used a Mason jar with a two-part lid.
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 sheet heavy paper
I also used a funnel specially-made for filling Mason jars but that’s not required:
Layer the ingredients for a neat look (although it might not stay that way after transport) then top the jar. I added a scrap of colorful fabric to the two-part lid and tied a small cookie cutter to the top.
You’ll also need to include the recipe for our Peanut Butter Dog Treats:

That’s it! Now you have a fun gift for a fellow dog lover; all they need to do is add some peanut butter and water and they’re all set to make peanut butter dog treats!
