Whether you are looking to learn more about Lone Star lore or hope to see a specter at one of their favorite haunts, several dog friendly Texas ghost tours will take you and your dog on a trip back in time!
NOTE: All dogs on a ghost walk must be on a leash and well-mannered both with their fellow fans of phantoms and with any ectoplasmic entities they might encounter! Also, don’t forget to pick up after your pup!
Austin
“Children of the night. What music they make…” in the Live Music Capital of the World as amateur ghost busters try to peek through the veil that divides the past from the present. You and your dog can embark on The Alleyways and Shadows Ghost Walk of the Texas Capitol. Stops include the old Travis County Jail, Austin’s first hospital and The Driskill Hotel. The Historic District tour takes tourists to Waller Creek, the Susannah Dickinson House, the O’Henry House and The Driskill hotel. The Haunted Historic Red-Light and Warehouse District Ghost Walk shines a light on the area’s shadowed yesterdays. Learn about Old German Town, Guytown, and The Driskill Hotel, and includes the hair-and fur-raising tale of a Jack the Ripper forerunner.
San Antonio
Go ghost-busting with your barking buddy! Between your dog’s uncanny senses and the EMF meters, dowsing rods and digital thermometers provided to each two-legged attendee, you might find a former San Antonio citizen who refuses to give up the ghost. The tour takes you by The Alamo, Main Plaza and Military Plaza, as well as a graveyard whose inhabitants were not allowed to rest in peace.
Some believe that our four-legged friends can perceive the presence of the dearly departed among us–and ghost detecting equipment just might help! The San Antonio Ghost Walk includes a stroll past the Alamo and the antiquated architecture along the River Walk. (NOTE: Dogs are not allowed on either the pub crawl tour or the Black Swan Inn tour.)
Your dog can tap into his inner Scooby-Doo while sniffing out the mysteries surrounding San Antonio’s history during a Ghost Tour. Two-hour tours are conducted by a trained paranormal investigator and Certified Tour Ambassador!
The 90-minute Haunted History Tour resurrects tales of Texas’s past. Sightseers in search of specters try their luck at The Spanish Governor’s Mansion and The Alamo. You’ll also visit The Menger Hotel, known among paranormal enthusiasts as having more ghostly guests than any other Texas hotel. (NOTE: Pooches are not permitted on either The Ghost Bus Tour or The Dinner Tour.)
Terrell
Terrell Ghost Walk
Dig up the supernatural side of the city as you listen to tales of Terrell’s past. Look for signs of the spirit world in the Small Business District with the help of an electromagnetic meter!
