Our Own Dachshund Name!
My childhood dog was a standard Dachshund:
I named him Peanut for the Peanuts cartoon strip. In his later years, Peanut was best friends with our duck named Daisy.
When Peanut had surgery for intervertebral disc disease, his rehab involved swimming with Daisy–and years later they became the subject of my first big writing assignment: a feature for Reader’s Digest magazine on Peanut and Daisy!
