Children’s Author Jacqueline Wilson Adopts Rescue Puppy

Share with fellow dog lovers!

JacksonOnce upon a time a four-month-old homeless puppy was found wandering along on the streets, but thanks to a renowned animal welfare charity he was able to embark on a new chapter in his life in the home of a best-selling children’s author, where he will live happily ever after.

Jackson, a Patterdale Terrier mix, was one of approximately 400 dogs residing at one of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s three adoption centers when Dame Jacqueline Wilson– the author of the popular Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather book franchises– paid a visit in April.

Dame Jacqueline said: “I am so happy we were able to rehome Jackson and welcome him into the Wilson family. He has joined my two cats Jacob and Lily, who were also strays Irehomed from Battersea, and has settled in very well. There are so many animals at Battersea looking for loving new homes, and I always knew I wanted to give a beautiful little dog a second chance and a happy ending.”

A celebrity ambassador for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Dame Jacqueline Wilson has shown her support for the iconic UK organization by attending Battersea’s Annual Reunion and Collars & Coats Gala Ball; donating royalties from her book Paws and Whiskers and helping to launch an appeal for new, state-of-the-art kennels.  On July 5th the writer and her new fur baby will once again help the paws cause as celebrity judges at the Battersea Old Windsor Fun Day.

Celebrating its 11th year, the free event will include dog shows with such categories as waggiest tail, golden oldie, prettiest lady, fancy dress, handsomest dog, dog that looks most like his/her parent and best Battersea Dog. There will also be an agility competition, a Battersea Bake Off competition, musical mats, a Staffies parade and a Battersea Rehoming Parade.

Speaking about the upcoming event, which will raise both funds for and awareness of Battersea’s ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome companion animals in need, Dame Jacqueline Wilson stated: “We are very excited about attending Battersea Old Windsor’s Fun Day and hopefully we will make a good judging team and agree on who should be the winners! I went to the Fun Day last year and it is always such a wonderful event where Battersea dogs and animal lovers from all over the country come together to join in the fun.”
