Celebrities Visit The Mayhew Animal Home

Two animal-loving British luminaries recently used their star wattage to shine a spotlight on dog and cats who need forever homes.

Wishing to show their support for smaller charities in need, Lauren Pope from the hit reality series The Only Way is Essex and Chart Show presenter Donatella Panayiotou spent the afternoon giving cuddles to the canines, cats and rabbits who are currently residing at The Mayhew Animal Home’s rescue center in Kensal Green.

The high-profile personalities made a number of furry friends during their stay, including Kizzy, a mistreated Maltese who is slowly leaving her painful past behind thanks to the comfort and care provided by The Mayhew Animal Home, which is giving her time to heal her emotional wounds before a home is found for her; kittens who are now playing in safety after being found at a nearby industrial site; and Chico, a dog who was found as a stray in a nearby park.

Along with Tweeting photos from their visit, Lauren Pope and Donatella Panayiotou also showed fans how their can wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to the topic of animal welfare by wearing T-shirts from The Mayhew’s own clothing line. (The stars are sporting the dog shirt and cat shirt, which are available on The Mayhew Animal Home’s online shop for £8 each.)

The Mayhew CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “We always enjoy welcoming new people to come and see the work of The Mayhew and we were delighted that Lauren and Donatella came to spend time with us. They were able to see first hand the work we do, meet our animals and hear the stories behind their arrivals. All our animals deserve love, safety and care and it was fantastic for them to receive extra TLC today. We hope that the visit will spur more people on to consider rescue centres as their option when considering getting a pet.”
