A nose tackle for the Baltimore Ravens is helping our friends with wet noses stay safe by tackling the problem of dog and cat abuse.
Joining in a virtual huddle with such sports stars as linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, wide receiver Torrey Smith and baseball great Matt Wieters, Brandon Williams is the latest animal-loving athlete to focus attention on the Show Your Soft Side campaign by stepping in front of photographer Leo Howard Lubow’s lens. Launched in 2011 as a way to reach out to misguided teens in Baltimore who see the mistreatment of defenseless animals as an indication of manliness and teach them that tenderness toward dogs and cats is the true measure of a man, in 2013 Show Your Soft Side was incorporated in order to carry its message of mercy throughout the country.
During the photo shoot Williams shared the spotlight with two tiny Spots– Mabel (seen in the photo above) and Maynard, precious puppies from Bella’s Bully Buddies, an all-volunteer non-profit which rescues and rehomes ‘Pit Bull’ type dogs from shelters and the streets. While Mabel has already found a forever family to love, Maynard– a four-month-old pup in foster care– is learning socialization skills in puppy class as he waits for the day when he becomes a MVP (Most Valued Pup) in the heart of a loving pet parent.
