109*365: PicMonkey

I just stumbled across a new (well, new to me) photo editing site that I wanted to share with everyone. PicMonkey is free right now and requires no signup. I thought I’d pop on there and check it out…suddenly it’s an hour later and I’ve had so much fun playing with all the filters and effects.

The photo I used is one I had from a few days ago in the 365 Photo Project of Tiki on the front walk. There’s a huge array of special filters but I wanted to show you some of my favorites. Here’s Frost, which is like a burned edges filter but in reverse…

You’ll see the PicMonkey site will let me vary the color, degree of fade, and more. (And, to first get to these special effects, you’ll click the beaker symbol in the left sidebar. Other symbols control exposure, touchups, text, frames, overlays and more.)

Here’s the Dark Edges effect…

Here’s the Urbane effect which I really liked…

The HDR effect is really interesting and artistic…

The Cinematic effect is eye-catching…

And I think the Focal Zoom is a very handy effect if you’ve got a cluttered background you’d like to disguise…

There are tons more effects and other special features so have fun!

If you use PicMonkey, please be sure to share a photo in the comments field below…I’d love to see it! Just click the + link to upload an image!
