54*365: Night Vision

Remember the game camera we put up in the woods earlier this year? Early this morning, we caught a photo of this visitor, a gray fox!

Do you ever wonder what wildlife is coming to your home while you and your dogs sleep? We purchased the Moultrie D55-IR Game Spy game camera this year, and we’ve had a lot of fun with this motion-detecting camera. We keep it in the woods just beyond our fenced yard, sometimes moving it further away, usually alongside our hiking trails. (We can tell, because of the coyote and fox droppings, that the trails are well used even when we’re not out dog walking.)

The camera is water-resistant and has a strap that we use to attach it to a tree. On most days, we take an extra SD card with us on our walks and swap out the card to see what we “caught” the night before. It has been a lot of fun to see the photos! Since there’s no visible flash, it doesn’t scare off the wildlife which is nice.

Have you ever used a game camera to take photos of the wildlife in your area? If so, please share a photo below; just click the + link in the comments box!
