Let’s face it: a lot of our dog’s hours are spent hanging out in the house. And, for many hours of the day, the house can be a little dark.
You might be tempted to pop up that flash on your camera to capture your dog photos when you’re in the house…but resist that urge! A flash (beside annoying your dog) will just about ruin any photo. Take for example these photos.
The top photo was taken tonight after dinner as Irie snoozed on the couch. (Please ignore the couch cover. You know how it is…)
To take this photo, I rested the camera on the coffee table because I knew the shutter would be slow in the dim lamp light of the living room. Irie wasn’t moving, though, so there was no danger of blur on her end of the photo, all I needed to do was to make sure no blur resulted from movement on my part.
The result is a warm toned photo…but compare it to this photo taken from exactly the same place about one minute later. The only difference? I used the pop-flash on the camera.
Eek! Definitely not the same mood or tone at all!
Turn your flash OFF for those indoor dog photos, especially if your dog is still or sleeping. You (and your dog) will be glad you did!
