Tiki’s First Dog Party!

Saturday night marked the first doggie party Tiki has ever attended, a special “Seven Year Itch Pawty” held in honor of Teeny’s Friends.

I have to be honest: I was a lot little worried about taking Tiki to a party. As you know, we live in the country. Tiki loves seeing people but generally does so in batches of one or two people at a time. We knew that Irie absolutely wouldn’t like to be around so many people (and would hate the traffic driving to Austin) so she stayed home with John and enjoyed a quiet evening on the couch.

Tiki likes to go into PetSmart and PETCO shopping but she’s never been to a really upscale doggie boutique. The party was held at metrodog, a wonderful boutique store in The Domain, Austin’s most upscale shopping area (to give you an idea, Tiffany’s is there). Before the party, I walked Tiki around the open-air mall to get her little more relaxed.

Then it was time for the party. We entered on the red carpet then began to work our way around the store filled with dog lovers and their dogs…

Tiki had never seen a dog in a tutu but there were several costumed cuties at the party…

Like any good Hollywood party, there were pawparazzi there, of course. Estevan Alfaro Photography from McAllen, Texas was taking photos, and Tiki was happy to model (she’s used to it!)

Tiki checked out the treat buffet…

…but she was too excited to eat so we took Tiki’s treats home for Irie. Instead, Tiki enjoyed a canine massage (her first!) from Skillful Paws

We left before Teeny’s birthday cake was served but Tiki was getting restless and I wanted to drive back home before dark. We came home, and John said that Irie had been going to the door all evening looking for Tiki. Irie enjoyed her treats from the event, and Tiki literally fell asleep within minutes of arriving back home, exhausted from the excitement of her first big party!
