Lara Spencer Adopts Dog

Lara Spencer, who helps TV viewers start their day off with a smile as a member of the Good Morning America family, recently made dog lovers smile when she announced that she had welcomed a new four-legged addition to her family.

A long-time supporter of North Shore Animal League America, the TV personality found her new barking buddy Betty at the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization.

Having adopted her fur baby in late 2023, in January 2024 she told fans via Instagram:

“To answer some typical questions people ask about rescues—how is she adjusting? Is she well behaved? Why should we adopt rather than purchase a pet? —-hopefully these pictures speak for themselves ;). Welcome to the family crazy funny silly smart Betty!”

Celebrating the news, North Shore Animal League America posted on Facebook

“We are truly grateful for the devotion and dedication Lara Spencer has for our no-kill mission. She practices what she preaches! She already adopted two dogs from us and after a recent visit…the number is now three! We’re happy to see Betty has found her loving home. Lara, THANK YOU for amplifying our message about the importance of rescuing animals who come from deplorable conditions.”

As Lara Spencer celebrates being a new pet parent to a pup from North Shore Animal League America, the non-profit is celebrating its 80th year of helping homeless companion animals. Since 1944, North Shore Animal League America has saved more than 1,100,000 dogs and cats in need!
