Although the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation came to an end this year after seven seasons, many of the show’s cast members have recently reunited to help dogs who hope to be cast in the role of a furry family member to a forever pet parent.
Following in the footsteps of his former co-star Aubrey Plaza (and soon to be followed by former cast mate Aziz Ansari), Nick Offerman is the latest animal-loving luminary to lend their voice to a homeless dog for a webisode of Heavy Petting, a pet adoption-themed web series on Smart Girls, a website co-founded by former Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler.
In the dating app-inspired video Offerman speaks for Kiki, a four-year-old pooch who is proud to be an American Bulldog. A Fido with a fondness for flowers, Kiki is hoping to find a human companion who shares his love of the outdoors.
Shining a spotlight on the option of pet adoption, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls website has teamed up with the ASPCA and animal shelters from coast to coast. Future webisodes will include adorable adoptables whose thoughts are voiced by actors Paul Scheer (The League, Fresh Off the Boat), John Roberts, and other stars who support the paws cause.
