Television viewers know her for her portrayal of investigative reporter Julia Shumway, a major character in the hit CBS small screen adaptation of the Stephen King novel Under the Dome, but offscreen actress Rachelle Lefevre is recognized by dog devotees for playing a major role in the world of animal advocacy. An Acclaimed Ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society, the star recently stepped in front of a camera with her real life leading man and their two rescue dogs in order to shine a spotlight on the option of pet adoption.

The Twilight franchise star and Chris Crary, a season 9 cast member of the Bravo series Top Chef, spoke about their shared passion for compassion and love for their fur family, Nugget and Jack: “No single decision has impacted our lives as positively as the choice to adopt our dogs from a shelter. Rescuing an animal is one of the most rewarding things you can ever do, and we are repaid daily in unconditional love. We cannot imagine a greater bond than one built on mutual gratitude. We gave our dogs a forever home and in return they have given us a friendship we will cherish forever.”

The actress and reality personality are the latest in a long line of animal-loving luminaries to show their support for Best Friends Animal Society’s Save Them All mission to end the euthanization of 9,000 dogs and cats every day in the US shelter system by promoting pet adoption, the spaying/neutering of companion animals, volunteering and donating to help the paws cause. Other famous friends of Fidos and felines who have taken part in the ongoing photo campaign include Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Carrie Ann Inaba, Maggie Q and Nils Lofgren of The E Street Band.
