Actor Jon Bernthal Takes Stand Against Pit Bull Prejudice #TheMajorityProject

Bernthal2He portrayed a zombie slayer in The Walking Dead, a police officer in the TNT’s Mob City and will star as The Punisher in the second season of the Netflix series Daredevil, but when the director yells “That’s a wrap!” Jon Bernthal steps into his real life role– that of a loving pet parent to two dogs.

The actor, who first helped to shine a spotlight back in January on the need to put an end to prejudice against both Pit Bull type dogs and those who have welcomed Pitties into their heart and home by promoting Animal Farm Foundation‘s campaign The Majority Project, is currently starring in another PSA for the paws cause.

Hoping to stop the stereotyping of Pit parents, the video shows not only Jon Bernthal with his young son and his two furry family members, but also a photo montage featuring such diverse yet doggedly devoted friends of Pit Bulls as cancer biologist Eric and his four-pawed pal, Red; great-grandmother Nonny and her fur baby, Ginger; Father Humble and his barking buddy, Aura; teacher Rebecca and her tail-wagging chum, Carmela, and many others.

“My dogs, Boss and Venice, are members of my family, and I love them just like they’re on of my kids,” Bernthal stated. “Just like us, dogs deserve to be treated as individuals. Laws that discriminate based on breed unfairly target not only dogs bout also the innocent families who love and care for them.”
