NFL Star Eric Decker Helps Vets in Need of Service Dogs

NFL-star-Eric-Decker-and-dogSince its start in 2013, Decker’s Dogs has been a real game changer in the lives of both shelter dogs as well as former and active members of the military who are dealing with the challenges of a service-related disability. Now the sports star who founded the initiative– New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker– has once again teamed up with Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. to encourage dog devotees and those with a dogged devotion to those who protect our freedom to get in the game and help raise funds for The Eric and Jessie Decker Foundation.

Through Memorial Day (May 25th, 2015), Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. (VPI) is donating $5 (up to a total of $10,000) to the Eric and Jessie Decker Foundation for each unique pet insurance quote generated at petparentsday.com.

A program created by The Eric and Jessie Decker Foundation, Decker’s Dogs provides support for Freedom Service Dogs of America by funding the rescue, care and custom training of shelter dogs as they learn the vital skills needed to become service dogs for those who have served our country.

The cost of a rescued canine’s care and 10-month-long conditioning for a role as a service dog can cost approximately $25,000, and, thanks to the contributions made by the public, Decker’s Dogs has already helped to pair four service dogs with military veterans, with two more matches already funded and underway.
