The hit Showtime series Shameless recently concluded its fifth season, and while television viewers may have to wait a while before they see the character of Fiona Gallagher back on the small screen, dog devotees can now see actress Emmy Rossum in a real life role that’s close to her heart– that of a Best Friends Animal Society celebrity supporter.

A proud pet parent to three rescue dogs, the Golden Globe-nominated actress and her pup, Pepper– a Lhasa Apso mix from the Baldwin Park animal shelter who was cast as the star’s canine companion at the 2014 NKLA Adoption Weekend in L.A.– help to promote the option of adoption through the Save Them All photo campaign.

“The wonderful thing about adopting form a shelter or rescue organization is that you save two lives, the life of the dog or cat you adopt and then another who takes the open spot at the shelter,” the star stated. “Then when that dog or cat gets adopted there is another open spot, and so on. There are so many amazing dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, temperaments and breeds looking for homes and when you make that connection with the right one, your life is changed for the better. I encourage everyone to find their new best friend at their local animal shelter and together we will save them all.”

By posing with her rescued Rover, Rossum joins an all-star ensemble who are using their star wattage to shine a light on the urgent need to end the daily euthanization of approximately 9,000 healthy and adoptable companion animals in the U.S. shelter system. Other high-profile pals to those with paws who have shown their support for the cause include Amanda Seyfried, Maggie Q, Tricia Helfer, Carrie Ann Inaba, Nils Lofrgren and more.
