Priscilla Presley Promotes Adopt, Don’t Shop Campaign

PresleyIn the new coffee table book “Shades of Elvis” by Christopher Ameruoso and Priscilla Presley, the eyes of more than 75 high-profile personalities peer out from behind the tinted lenses of the music icon’s favorite pair of sunglasses, and now famed photographer Ameruoso has once again partnered with the King of Rock and Roll’s queen to help open the eyes of potential pet parents to the option of adoption.

A famous fan of our four-legged friends, over the years the former host of Those Amazing Animals has used her star wattage to shine a spotlight on such topics as the preservation of the Hayden Law, which protects California’s shelter animals; the need to save wild horses from slaughter, and to put an end to the cruel practice of ‘soring’ the hooves and legs of Tennessee Walking Horses.

Doggedly devoted to canines, Presley is a multi-pet parent who adopted two barking buddies in 2012 from Dark Horse Rescue, a non-profit organization in Mississippi which, although known for saving horses who have been abandoned, abused or neglected, also helps other companion animals in need.

Priscilla Presley is one of many animal-loving luminaries who have posed for Christopher Ameruoso for Last Chance for Animals’ Adopt, Don’t Shop campaign. Other celebrities who have shown their support for the paws cause include Sons of Anarchy‘s Ron Perlman, actor Sam Elliott, The Real Housewives of Miami‘s Joanna Krupa, Mike Wolfe from The History Channel series American Pickers and Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer.

Established in 1984 by actor Chris DeRose, Last Chance for Animals champions a number of animal welfare issues, including the plight of puppy mill dogs, the protection of companion animals from pet theft and efforts to end the transport of animals to laboratories.
