Barli’s First Week at Home!

I am so happy to report that Bärli has had such a good first week since his adoption! He is such a happy little boy and loves exploring…

He’s quickly learning that the cats are his friends (Jetty now races up to him to bump noses every time Bärli walks inside!), and he looks up to his big sister Tiki for advice on everything from his first vet visit…

…to walks…

This week he also lost his last baby tooth! He had a permanent canine tooth that was coming in right beside the baby tooth; our vet asked to see him back in two months for an extraction if the baby tooth didn’t fall out:

One evening, though, Bärli was chewing an esophagus…and suddenly the baby tooth was out! Hooray!

We’ve been socializing Bärli every day. Watch for an upcoming post about the socialization lists we’ve been working through with him. When we adopted him, he had already completed his puppy shots so we’re able to get him out to socialize every day including visits to neighbors and their dogs, exposure to city sounds (I took him to my parents’ house where we sat outside and soon heard a fire truck go by), and parks, starting with small pocket parks and gradually building up to larger parks with noisy playgrounds…

Bärli is always up for some fun, whether that’s a snuggle on the couch…

…or a stick-carrying walk…

He has inherited Irie’s GPS collar and, I’m hoping, her love of travel, so we hope to make a trip to the beach with Bärli and Tiki in the coming weeks! In the meantime, he’s loving exploring his new home, and we’re having so much fun introducing him to our trails and dog walking routes!
