Allison Janney Hosts Shelter Me: New Beginnings

Janney
Each week she tickles our funny bones on the hit CBS comedy series Mom, but through her role as an animal advocate actress Allison Janney will touch our hearts as she hosts Shelter Me: New Beginnings, the fourth installment of the PBS Shelter Me series.

Along with her canine companions Dutch, Sippie and Addie, the Emmy Award-winning star will introduce television viewers to Aimee Sadler, a renowned animal trainer who shares her skills with shelter staff and volunteers who are trying to socialize dogs in play groups.

In the show’s second segment, TV viewers will witness the start of a new life for 128 dogs who were transferred from overcrowded Southern California animal shelters to forever homes in Idaho thanks to volunteer pilots from Wings of Rescue.

“I am honored to host Shelter Me and bring awareness to the thousands of loving pets in animal shelters across the country that need homes,” the actress stated. “I adopted three amazing dogs and they bring so much love and happiness to my life.”

By hosting Shelter Me: New Beginnings, Allison Janney has followed in the footsteps of fellow famous friends of Fidos and felines who have shown a spotlight on inspirational stories in the series, including Katherine Heigl, who introduced the program’s first installment; Glee star Jane Lynch, who hosted Shelter Me: Let’s Go Home, and Edie Falco, star of The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, who appeared in Shelter Me: Second Chances.
