She may have starred as a girl possessed by a demon in The Last Exorcism and The Last Exorcism II, but silver screen scream queen Ashley Bell’s role in real life is that of a guardian angel to animals in need. The actress is the latest luminary to team up with Cruelty Free International to encourage an end to cruel cosmetics.
The star, who served as the official spokesperson for FIDO Friendly magazine’s 5th annual Get Your Licks on Route 66 pet adoption tour, recently posed with Suzette– one of her canine companions– to urge a U.S. ban on beauty product testing on animals.
Her famous face photo ready for the promotional shoot thanks to Leaping Bunny certified cosmetics Tata Harper Skincare and Arbonne Cosmetics, Bell stated: “In this day and age, it’s unconscionable that animals are forced to suffer for beauty products here in the U.S. I make the right choice, the humane choice, and only use cosmetics that are not tested on animals. I’m happy to support the great work of Cruelty Free International; the organization committed to ending cosmetic animal testing in the U.S. Europe has already established a groundbreaking change for animals by banning these cruel tests. It is now time for the U.S. to do the same.”
Bell– who is currently directing and producing the feature-length documentary Love & Bananas, which chronicles the plight of Asian elephants in Cambodia– follows in the footsteps of such other high-profile pals to those with paws as Sir Paul McCartney, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, Grammy Award winner Joss Stone and comic icon Ricky Gervais in showing support for Cruelty Free International, which — after 20 years of campaigning by its founding organization the BUAV (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection)– brought about the most far-reaching animal testing ban in the world in March 2013 for new cosmetics sold in all 28 countries in the European Union.
